Going on 9 months now. I have had a constant awarness of my sternum region for the entire time. The usual tightness and clicking. Lately I felt more pressure up there. Swollen pancreas, liver, spleen?!?!?!?

Anyone feel this?

Quick question: are you underweight and do you eat 1,500 calories a day or less because of your gastro problems?

[...], I was diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic in early April with costochondritis, but they gave me NO help on what to do to help it heal. Is there anything you are or have done that helps it?

I’ve worked a fair bit with mine and had some success. As for the bump, it’s tender so don’t poke at it and piss it off. I investigated cortisone injections into it, and they were I’ll advised.

Look at your activities that may be irritating it. Exercise? The way you sleep? Anything. I had to lay off cycling and ab exercises as they were aggravating things.

You can get a topical pain killer called diclophenac. I get mine mixed at 8%. It’s the same chemical found in voltarin, but that’s only 0.5%

Examine other sources. Mine turned out to be caused also by 3 bulging thoracic discs in between my shoulder blades. Treating the back injury helps the pain in ur sternum.

After all that, I drank heavily, which is not advisable!

Really it’s much more manageable now. Plus it’s good to know that the chest pain isn’t because of a heart condition. I also had a coronary angiogram to verify that.

From there u need to identify core building exercises that won’t aggravate it. Having a strong core helps.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies. I know that my ribs feel very thick. If I try to grab a hold of them under my rib cage they feel like huge thick slab of ribs. Yes I eat a lot. Bout 3000 calories a day. I swear that there is swelling inside of me. I can breath fine and look skinnier than I did 10 months ago. Just a lot of stiffness and consrtrictions in that area

Sounds like chostochondronitis. Ur rib cage is inflamed due to irritation. Try putting some ice packs on it for 10 minutes at a time and see if it helps.
