Stevie Nicks blames psychiatry, not abuse of illegal drugs, for her decline

The anti-psychiatry cult venerates Nicks as an anti-benzo apostle yet Stevie was an out of control drug addict:

  • Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks was so addicted to cocaine, alcohol and Quaaludes she blacked out and nearly overdosed repeatedly
  • She wore gold and turquoise bottle inlaid with diamonds around her neck so she was never without coke
  • To avoid body searches by customs in Europe, they hired Hitler’s private rail car complete with the elderly attendant who served the Fuhrer

She quickly descended into drug hell and became addicted to cocaine, alcohol, Quaaludes to sleep, and cigarettes – until her system broke down and she started having nosebleeds, falls on stage, blackouts and near overdoses.

She bought $1 million worth of cocaine and it burned a hole in her nose the size of a dime. Rumors spread that she had to have the drug blown up her derriere by an assistant.

“There was no way to get off the white horse and I didn’t want to,”  the now 66-year-old Nicks said.

She only slowed down her drug consumption when her doctor warned her she was risking permanent mental and physical damage as well as heading for a brain hemorrhage or an early grave.

The group called for an intervention and saved her life by urging her to check in to the Betty Ford Center.

Can anyone blame Big Pharma, or psychiatry, for that?

In a March 2017 Rolling Stone interview, instead of advising her younger self never to take illegal drugs, and thereby help other addicts, Nicks irresponsibly blames the psychiatrist who tried to help her recover:

What advice would you give to your younger self?
“How about my early-forties self? That’s when I walked out of Betty Ford after beating coke. I spent two months doing so well. But all my business managers and everyone were urging me to go to this guy who was supposedly the darling of the psychiatrists. That was the guy who put me on Klonopin. This is the man who made me go from 123 pounds to almost 170 pounds at five feet two. He stole eight years of my life.”

Look at what this poor, brainwashed, slob at Benzo Buddies says about Nicks:

Start fighting back folks. No more suicides. Lost jobs and homes. No more drugged toddlers and babies, elderly and infirm. Come on guys! This is a grass roots effort! If Stevie Nicks still has the balls to stand up against big pharma and the drug dealers that push their poisons, so do you!

Love you all,

Talk about delusional.

Four years later, cult still panicked over Matt Samet’s relapse

“So perhaps you’re wondering, once a year, or two, or three go by off benzos or antidepressants or antipsychotics or whatever chemicals have been foisted on you, will you still have to be vigilant or can you dive fully back into your ‘old life’ again? Can you pound coffee or smoke weed or drink socially, or have a stressful job or commute, or eat foods with lots of MSG and not blow out, not have a setback? Can you overextend yourself physically or mentally or emotionally without incurring ‘the wrath’?” – Matt Same

“I only passingly flirted with psych meds myself but I did a fair and regular share of weed, coffee, alcohol, psychedelics, and the occasional benzo, opiate, and even friends’ neuroleptics (to help me sleep off binges) for several years.” – Matthew Cohen

I have a guess. A guess is all it is, so please don’t jump on me. It is possible that his relapse was not what he says it was. He might have an underlying condition that led to his initial benzo use, and has now reared its ugly head again.

He would have us believe that his healed nervous system was so fragile that seven years of abuse crashed it again. That’s a possibility, but I can think of other things that might also explain it.

Obviously I don’t know. But why should we all get freaked out and worried that we will never truly recover 100% and will always have this hanging over our heads if we drink too much coffee? As long as it’s possible that his problem was not simply a return to withdrawal seven years later, why should we worry about it?

I don’t think Matt Samet did the benzo community any favors by scaring the hell out of us. As long as there are other possibilities, I choose to ignore Matt Samet’s claim that we never really recover from benzo use. On average, I’m sure we are not all like Matt Samet.

Matt Samett has written about smoking marijuana and this is a HUGE no no when it comes to the post benzo brain. Marijuana is like taking a sledge hammer to your brain’s GABA receptors. The caffeine probably didn’t do him any favors, but caffiene wont reset you back to square one benzo withdrawal. Alcohol and pot however will launch u back into benzo withdrawal.

As for Matt’s claim that we never fully recover…he’s eight. We heal and gain back the ability to live our lives but the regenerated GABA receptors are fragile and genetically different than the original ones we were born with. One smack to these fragile receptors and ur right back in hell

Cult lionizes Stevie Nicks but always leaves out she abused illegal drugs

Stevie Nicks: ‘I was the worst drug addict’

Before Stevie Nicks checked herself into rehab in 1986, she had snorted so much cocaine it tore a hole through her nose. She bought $1 million worth of cocaine and it burned a hole in her nose the size of a dime. Rumors spread that she had to have the drug blown up her derriere by an assistant.

“All of us were drug addicts,”  the 66-year-old rock icon admitted to Rolling Stone. “There was no way to get off the white horse and I didn’t want to,” Nicks said.

Some poster girl for Ashton’s Church of Benzos huh?

Famous benzo victims?
« on: August 13, 2016, 03:48:26 pm »

[Buddie]

It’s occurred to me that I’m not aware of any famous / celebrity victims of benzos. I think this is quite strange. Benzos were found in the toxicology reports of Whitney Houston, Prince and Michael Jackson.
Eminem is well known former Valium addict. But he clearly didn’t go through many months of withdrawal hell like most victims here. If he did, we’d know about it. Same for those mentioned above.
Stevie Nicks has spoken out about Xanax, but only in as much as she said it made her feel emotionally dead and sapped her creativity.

It makes me more sure that we’re in a very unfortunate minority of users who have such an appalling time withdrawing.
I suppose some benzo using celebrities might just avoid withdrawal by keeping on the pills, and they’ve certainly got the financial resources to do so…but how come no one is known for hitting tolerance WD?
The WD experience is so debilitating that they’d be unable to function as performers / actors/ politicians for a significant period of time…and surely anyone going through this hell would speak out?

Stevie Nicks snorted so much cocaine she burned a hole in her nose but Klonopin is more deadly than coke? Does Stevie have brain damage from drug abuse?

Flick

Mike always falls back on ridiculous lies when he has nowhere to go, I had one testicle injured falling on my board in a surfing accident and had surgery to repair it. was very painful, but only a piece of it was removed. like I said, the troll will try to bury anything really informative or interesting by posting a series of inane posts. i guess i will have to keep pasting that article for awhile in case someone with half brain wants to read it and learn some interesting things. If you feel like you are a drug addict, then speak for yourself. Flick

But Matt Samet admitted abusing illegal drugs and alcohol…

“Over the years, I’ve shredded body and mind with poisons and palliatives, and sweated out the mess: benzos, booze, marijuana, muscle relaxants, opiates, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, coffee, sugar, computer games, food, puke, shit, piss, blood.” – Matt Samet, Beauty in the Breakdown

I may have reached a pain specialist by using a book

Hi everyone,
Many of you may be aware of the book “Death Grip” by Matt Stamet from 2013. Anyway I seached “benzodiazepines” on the county library site and it was the only book which came up (and this is a BIG county) but anyway I dove into it and since I was seeing my “pain management” doc for the 2nd time I took it along. He’s a younger guy and had already said he’d never heard of Ashton. His very large and expensive group does NOT ever prescribe benzos which I told him was great on visit #1. However, he is clueless of the masses which are going to be coming to him broken from these things. I just wanted to share that he showed a lot of genuine interest, and will hopefully read the book (I gave him the library slip for the title). This, plus talking my psychiatric nurse practisioner into doing a micro-taper with me, wow I hope to be planting a seed to help many people sometime in the future.

BTW this book has already been mentioned on the archived threads here. Stamet is/was a rock climber, now recovered from benzo hell. His book is fabulous and really digs into the experience of the medical and psychiatric systems and how they sideline us and polydrug us. It’s pretty radical because he did a fast taper so suffered bad protracted w/d. If you’re easily scared or in that spot, maybe not a read for you. Otherwise, great. Recommended for jocks, especially.

“As Prescribed” Matt Samet quote out of touch with reality

“At this point, it’s almost a point of pride. If I kill myself those motherfuckers who poisoned me win.” – Matt Samet, As Described documentary film

“Over the years, I’ve shredded body and mind with poisons and palliatives, and sweated out the mess: benzos, booze, marijuana, muscle relaxants, opiates, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, coffee, sugar, computer games, food, puke, shit, piss, blood.” – Matt Samet, Beauty in the BreakdownOutside Magazine

“Can I tell you that my tallest boulder problem, Chewbacca, connecting 30 feet of crimpy holds at Hueco Tanks, in West Texas, was done armed with two milligrams of Ativan, some Mexican Valium, Carlo Rossi chablis, and a bushel of reefer?” – Matt Samet, Beauty in the Breakdown, Outside Magazine

Samet blames Big Pharma and psychiatry for his potentially lethal mix of alcohol, marijuana and prescription medications? Just who are the “motherfuckers” Samet is talking about? His doctors? Pharmaceutical companies? As Prescribed is going to use him as one of their heroes?
